Alex Matere

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Alex Matere is a political scientist, public policy practitioner and sustainable development enthusiast. He is a creative, pragmatic, tenacious individual with exceptional leadership, organizational and management skills. He has an impressive academic and professional record that is closely supported by constructive and worthwhile transformative contributions at the global, continental, national and local levels. In this, he has demonstrated leadership, organizational ability and an interest in sustainable development, inclusive leadership, diplomacy, public policy and governance.

Currently, Alex serves as the Executive Director of Youth Bridge Kenya (YBK) driven by a mission to provide a platform to nurture the youth through informed, innovative and value driven approaches for personal, community, national and global development. In this, YBK is focused on inclusive policy development, advocacy, mentorship, training and skills development and leadership development.

 

Alex holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Kenyatta University, Public Management from the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile and a Bachelors Degree in Political Science Public Administration from the University of Nairobi. He is a distinguished alumnus of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP, a premier professional exchange program for current and emerging foreign leaders by the US State Department, a Honorary Fellow of the African Leadership Forum, Generation Democracy by the International Republican Institute, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, and African Youth and Governance Convergence.

His transformative leadership and contribution has been recognized and he is an awardee of; International Visitor Leadership Program Impact Award by the US State Department, Pan African Young Outstanding African Award by the Pan African Youth Convention and Awards, The Kenyan Report’s, Top 40 Under 40, Honorary Fellow of the African Youth and Governance Convergence (AYGC) Accra,Ghana.

During his part time, he does commentary on topical issues bordering on development, politics, SIGs, governance and public policy in both print and electronic media.
