Alex Matere – Executive Director
Alex Matere is a budding political scientist and public policy wonk and enthusiast. He is a creative, pragmatic, tenacious individual with exceptional leadership and mobilisation skills. He has a good academic and professional record that is closely supported by constructive, rewarding and worthwhile activities within the community and organisations that he has served. In this, he has demonstrated leadership, organisational ability and an interest in local, regional and global politics, public policy and governance from the youth lenses.
Alex holds a Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration from Kenyatta University and Public Management from the University of Chile and a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Nairobi.
Alex has previously served as the Secretary General of the Students Organization of the University of Nairobi(SONU), Chaired the university students lobby pushing for the adoption of the Kenya Constitution 2010 and of late convened the Youth for BBI that championed for meaningful youth inclusion in the constitutional reforms. Presently, he serves as the Executive Director of Youth Bridge Kenya.
Alex has served diligently in the following task forces geared towards shaping youth policy;
1. The Kenya Youth Development Policy Taskforce
2. The National Skills Development Taskforce
3. The Kenya National Career Guidance Policy Taskforce
Richard Mutuku – Director, Programs
During his part time, he occasionally does commentary on topical issues bordering on local, regional and global politics, the youth sector, governance and public policy in both print and electronic media.
Richard Mutuku is an acclaimed author, academician, and researcher. He prides ten years of experience in programmatic development, design for baseline studies, and digital data collection. He currently heads a medium-sized team of researchers based in Nairobi involved in market research, study designs, data analysis, collection, visualization, and dissemination. Over the years, Richard has acquired a wealth of demonstrable experience in conceptualizing studies, planning, and executing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies in all stages of the project development cycle. He is also knowledgeable in designing questionnaires, conducting interviews and has technical expertise in research design, including sampling and Monitoring and Evaluation (MEAL) in diverse programmatic areas. He is skilled in Education and Skills programming, Democracy, and Governance programming, Cyber Security and Hygiene, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Youth Advocacy, and Gender Mainstreaming in Programming.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics, a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration and is a Ph.D. candidate pursuing a Doctorate in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Nairobi. His scholarly interests focus on Pan-Africanism, the intersectionality of technology and governance in Africa, and the African political economy. He is a fellow of the AfricaLics and a peer-reviewer of the African Review. Currently, he serves as the Director of Programs—at Youth Bridge Kenya.
Richard is passionate about the technological influence on democratic governments in the global south, cyber safety and hygiene, youth participation in political systems, and academic authorship.
Georgina Nduku – Director, Mentorship
EARLY LIFE
Attended Mount Saint Mary’s Girls’ Primary School before proceeding to Kambala Secondary School, then later Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors.
CAREER
Known to be passionate about public and community service; Georgina is currently a Professional Counsellor and Psychologist from Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors. She volunteered at the Kenya Red Cross after which she was brought on board as a Trainer of Trainers. She also worked as a Peer Counsellor at Hope Worldwide Kenya. Georgina has also worked as an Adolescent Trainer at PLAN International.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP
Before she became a youth leader in Machakos County, Georgina volunteered at RAY Youth Consortium which is a charitable organization involved in the development of the child-welfare, women & the youths in our society. She also serves as a Volunteer Counsellor at Siki Youth Associates. Due to her passion in youth inclusion at the county level, she was selected in the planning committee of the County Integrated plan (2023 – 2027) to ensure all department s have youth representation. Georgina Nduku is the founder and the current chairperson of Sitiri Dada Kenya which champions Menstrual Hygiene Management and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) for adolescents, youths and Women.
Sahal Dube – Director of Strategy
Sahal Dube is a versatile and all-round strategic management and communication consultant. He has vast experience consulting for private and public organisations on strategic communication, market positioning and turn-around strategies for small- and medium-term businesses. As a career strategist, Sahal provides strategic advisories to organisations and companies concerning cost-cutting measures, revenue generation, and diversification, redefining and solidifying market bases and identifying opportunities for entry and linkages.
He served for three years as the chairperson of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Kenya. In this position, he mentored and incubated small businesses, provided strategic thinking for accelerator business ideas, and steered the identification of strategic partners from venture capitalists to provide seed capital for promising businesses. Besides, he was able to cultivate an enabling environment for businesses led by youth, persons with disabilities, and women to thrive despite the challenging competitive environment. In this regard, despite providing strategic consultancy, Sahal is able to manage project plans, coordinate humanitarian support, especially in the ASAL regions, and manage cross-functional teams in youth-led organisations.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Kenya Methodist University and has a penchant for youth advocacy, governance issues, and political activism. He is the current Director of Strategy at Youth Bridge Kenya. He aims to position it as an organisation that champions for the interests of youth to increase their participation in political processes and incubate as many as possible to gain political interest. He believes increased youth participation in governance and political processes is a precursor for better reforms and government accountability.
Keith Andere – Director , Partnerships and Resource Mobilization
Keith Andere is a Pan African youth development practitioner, movement builder, digital strategist and a climate justice advocate. He is also a youth engagement and policy advocacy expert where he has had extensive engagement on various regional and global processes, worked on various campaigns, involved in youth movement building working with various youth networks.
He is based in Kenya and works for the African Youth commission (AYC) as the Executive Secretary, A Pan-African Youth Network present in 46 African countries in Africa including some in Diaspora. A leading network on youth engagement, capacity building, advocacy and knowledge management fostering synergy within the youth space on the continent. Prior to joining AYC, Keith worked with many continental youth platforms; Pan African Youth Network on Culture of Peace (PAYNCoP) as communications officer, Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) as the Communications Chair for Africa and Europe Region, African Artists for Peace Initiative (AAPI) as Program officer as well as Africans Rising. He also worked as the Regional Caucus Coordinator for Africa for United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth.
Keith is also the founding coordinator for the African Youth Internet Governance Forum as well as the Kenya Youth Internet Governance Forum. IGF is a multi-stakeholder platform for public Policy in ICT and issues on internet. The Youth IGF is a platform to build the capacity of young people to engage on the internet governance and public policy space He is a certified Ethical Hacker.
Advice Mundalo – Director, Communications and Corporate Affairs
Mundalo is a distinguished Communication and Political Strategist with a degree in Political science from Kenyatta University and another in Communication and PR from Mount Kenya University.
He served as the first Communication and Corporate Affairs Manager of the inaugural KUTV, a University owned television Station. He also served as Communication and PR Manager for one of Kenya’s leading real estate companies- KingsBliss Developers.
Mundalo is passionate on matters Youth leadership since his University days when he served as a student leader where he honned his skills to later serve as the Spokesperson of the Kenya Youth Alliance, a youth Pressure group in Kenya that highlights and advocates for the Youth. In equal breathe Mundalo alongside like minded young people founded the Mulembe Youth Movement that brings together young people from Western Kenya where he served as Chairperson.
Mundalo has scaled the ranks in Youth leadership to serving as the National Youth Chairman for the Former Ruling Party- The Jubilee Party, and leading milestones of success including registering the highest number of youth aspirants in the 2022 election and being loud on advocacy that saw the Jubilee regime employ hundreds of Young people in key government strategic positions.
Mundalo is also a member of Generation Democracy under International Republican Institute and the International Youth Envoy for Global Peace and Security Organization headquartered in Nigeria
Mundalo is also a revered commentator on Public Interest conversations on both local and international Media shaping Development and Policy formulation.
Conrad Keya – Director of Research and Innovation
Conrad holds a degree in Actuarial Science from Maseno University.He has previous experience as a Business Analyst at Metropol Corporation Limited, a financial services and credit rating company. In this role, he worked on analyzing data and financial information to provide insights and recommendations for business decisions.
Keya’s passion for policy research and data has led to his immense contribution in policy work, he represented Youth Bridge Kenya in the taskforce mandated with drafting the first Kakamega County Youth Policy. Hisexpertise has contributed to more information and effective decision-making in the areas he is involved in, including youth engagement, democracy and advocating for accountable governance.
Being a Global Ambassador for Generation Democracy (GENDEM) under the auspices of the International Republican Institute (IRI), Conrad is actively engaged in advocating for democratic principles, promoting civic engagement, and emphasizing the importance of transparent and accountable governance. He also a member of the Optimistic Network an initiative of IRI, a community for innovators advancing democracy through the use of Technology
The combination of his skills in technology, data analysis, policy research, and advocacy for good governance makes him a critical cog at Youth Bridge Kenya. Conrad as a multi-faceted professional capable of addressing complex challenges that require interdisciplinary approaches.
