This program is inspired by the Ubuntu philosophy of, ‘’I am because we are,’’ that denotes the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity. Underpinning this timeless creed, Youth Bridge Kenya is focused on creating a mentorship program for high school boys from single mother families from informal settlements in Nairobi.
The program undertaken in partnership with the Kenya School of Government, seeks to;
- Assist in giving the boys an identity,
- Help in developing a set of values,
- Offer life skills training and psycho social support
- Create a platform for building strong, lasting bridges to opportunity through excellence in education and,
- Career exploration.
To achieve this, the participants are taken through a two weeks training on a comprehensive and well-designed curriculum developed by experts that is supported by a two month volunteer Brother-to- Brother individualized mentorship sessions. Overall, the project is focused on creating a lasting legacy of empowered and engaged young people who are equipped with the necessary software to cause positive impact in their communities and beyond.
